Google + Saleforce.com = On-Demand Applications
April 15, 2008GOOGLE and Salesforce.com recently announced an alliance to deliver WEB-BASED ONLINE PROGRAMS competing with packaged software from Microsoft.
Google ‘Apps’ including e-mail, calendar, and document writing will be included in software services offered by Salesforce, which essentially serves as leading on-demand application provider (Software as a service).
The specific integrations supported by Salesforce for Google Apps include:
* Salesforce and Gmail - Businesses can use Gmail to send,receive and store e-mail, keeping a complete record of customer interactions with Salesforce.
* Salesforce and Google Docs - Create, manage and share online Google Documents, Google Spreadsheets and Google Presentations within a sales organization, marketing group or support team for instant collaboration.
* Salesforce and Google Talk - Allows users to access Google’s Instant Messenger from within Salesforce and optionally attach Google Talk conversations to customer or prospect records stored in Salesforce.
* Salesforce and Google Calendar - An integration that exposes sales tasks and marketing campaigns from Salesforce on Google Calendar. The Calendar integration was built by third-party software house Appirio.
Salesforce for Google Apps is available immediately to all Salesforce.com customers at no additional charge.
In brieft, we are looking at new kind of Integration, where ‘Application Providers’ are integrating with ‘Social Networking Groups’ like Google capitalizing thier user base, and integrating/delivering thier service via thier combined platform.
In future, you might integration like;
A Company + Ebay = Integrated Service
A Company + Yahoo = Integrated Service
A Company + Amazon = Integrated Service
So the model will be;
Service Providers + Social Networking Sites = Unlimited Oppourtunities
See if you can be the “A Company”. Think of a service that these companies might need.
Cheers!
